Hey there!
I’m a new poster here and have a few questions I’m trying to figure out.
My MSI laptop is great overall, but it’s missing two things that really matter to me. First, the colors and display quality aren’t quite what I’d like—they feel a bit dull. Second, the battery life is decent, though I’m not too concerned about it.
I know you can upgrade the display panels, but I’m a bit unsure about what’s actually replaceable or upgradable. I’ve found some vendors with better color gamut (ranging from 42 to 72%) and I’m curious if I can get a 1440p QHD panel.
From what I’ve researched so far, using the panel model N156HRA-EA1 on Panelook looks promising—it supports eDP, eDP1.3, and a 40-pin connector. Still, I’d like some advice or suggestions before making any changes.
As long as the connector works, voltage is correct, and size matches, I should be able to try a new display.
Any tips would be really helpful! Thanks a lot!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! The guidance provided applies to your laptop as well. If you're open to voiding your warranty...you can reach out to the panel seller and inquire about compatibility, as they have that information. Additionally, I wouldn't exceed the display's limits. For instance, if a model with a 1440p @144Hz refresh rate was available, it might be worth considering, but replacing the laptop to install new hardware would likely void your warranty. Storage and RAM could be alternatives, though not the display. If a superior screen was needed, I'd have returned the laptop for a better option. If the display is essential to your choice, visiting the store in person at a trade show would be wise.

Thank you for your reply!
The warranty situation is clear since the purchase was in December 2023, which means my warranty has already expired. I’m not new to repairs—I work as a phone repair technician, so opening up my laptop and replacing parts isn’t something I’m overly worried about.
From what MSI indicates, the display only supports a single panel for my model, but I’ve seen others on Reddit and elsewhere successfully swap panels to higher-tier models even though they don’t normally support it. I’m mainly trying to confirm this before diving into a panel replacement.
The laptop itself is good quality, but the design choice by the manufacturer seems to accept 45% NTSC on a laptop with a 4060 and a Ryzen 7 7735HS. From a hardware standpoint, I’m confident I can handle higher-tier panels without issues. Still, I’d prefer not to risk damaging anything by overvolting.
