Hello everyone, I'm struggling to figure out whether it's worth upgrading my PC (CPU and GPU).
I have a Z77 extreme 4 motherboard, an i7 3770K processor, a Palit GTX 1070 with 8GB RAM, and about 16GB of memory.
I mainly play games on this machine, so I'm considering overclocking the CPU first and checking if it improves performance.

OCing might provide a few performance benefits, yet it also increases heat production and power usage. Additionally, it places extra strain on the system.

Absolutely essential to overclock the CPU, especially if handled by an overclocker specialist.

Completely not worthwhile. The results are only slight at most.

While that is an old system overclocking should be perfectly fine but whether or not there are any gains will come down to what you're playing. Check GPU usage while playing your games and if it's over 90% then anything you do with your CPU won't likely be noticeable at all.
