Is it advisable to overclock your 8350 for BF1?
Hey guys,
I've been having trouble playing BF1 since its release. I believe the issue lies with my 8350 CPU limiting the performance of the 1070, causing low frame rates. Should we consider overclocking the CPU to improve performance? Or would it be better to upgrade to an Intel processor? The GPU is using only about 20% of its power while I'm playing, and I added an in-game afterburner.
Rig:
AMD FX-8350
GTX 1070
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Asus M5A97 R2.0
8 GB RAM
700W HPG-700ST-F12S PSU
if you adjust the voltage properly, reaching 4.3ghz should be feasible on that board. I think 4.5ghz might push the voltage into higher levels where the board wouldn't perform well. Experiment with different voltages, beginning at 4.2ghz and lowering the Vcore as much as possible while keeping stability, then try 4.3ghz. The outcome largely depends on the chip's characteristics—especially if it can handle lower voltages at certain frequencies. Regardless, even with an overclocked FX 8 core, the 1070 will likely hit a bottleneck in many cases. However, as long as you maintain around 60fps or close to it, the issue should be avoided.
