I've posted this in the PC gaming section as it seems most appropriate given my circumstances. My alternative monitor choice is a 1440p 144hz display. I believe 4K at 60hz would be a more suitable option for me, considering my current gaming habits – primarily single-player FPS/RPG titles like Doom, Borderlands, Bioshock, and Dark Souls. Until an engaging online multiplayer game truly captures my interest (and I don’t anticipate that happening soon), I'll likely continue with these types of games. The RX 5700 XT appears capable of running many titles at 4K with a minimum frame rate of 40 FPS, and 4K monitors are generally less expensive than equivalent 1440p 144hz displays. Therefore, I might be able to acquire a more favorable display without increasing my spending. However, the central question is whether 4K gaming would genuinely be a better choice for me, as I’ve never experienced it before. What are your opinions? If I were to purchase a 4K monitor, I would certainly select one that supports FreeSync.

That’s a question that's uniquely yours to answer.

Would you value detailed, sharp visuals (high resolutions)? Or would you prioritize fluid motion (high refresh rates)? Possibly both? However, the RX 5700XT can only achieve one of these options at 4K.

My opinion is this: if you’re a typical gamer and haven't been captivated by the experience of high refresh rates, then 4K at 60 frames per second might be sufficient.

However…

It’s vital that you visit an electronics store and evaluate 4K at 60Hz monitors yourself to determine if it’s something you truly enjoy, because if you've adapted to faster refresh rates and subsequently purchase a conventional 60Hz display, you’ll quickly perceive the disparity...

And that difference won't be a good thing – it will lead to disappointment and regret.

Nevertheless, please try out 4K60 samples firsthand before making a purchase!
