I recently upgraded my PC with 16GB of RAM, using a different model from Corsair Vengeance Pro (old) to the new Corsair Vengeance Pro SL. After installation, I faced immediate crashes when starting PUBG, followed by the game getting stuck in an update verification loop that prevented updates. This issue also affected another game, ATS. To troubleshoot, I checked the game files, cleared the download cache, and repaired the installation folder—but it didn’t resolve the problem until I removed the new RAM and the updates completed successfully. Once I reinstalled the original RAM, everything worked without issues. I ran benchmarks afterward and had no crashes. However, playing PUBG for about five minutes caused a crash, and I haven’t tried it again. ATS resolved the problem, but other games didn’t. Some other problems include two Windows 11 crashes, occasional Google freezes, and random app malfunctions. Let me know if you have any questions.

Zen 2 tends to be selective about memory usage and handling four sticks poses challenges for the CPU's memory controller. Combining memory sources, particularly with four sticks, can cause problems. Even if the sticks are functionally identical, variations like different ICs or dual vs single rank configurations may lead to instability. When XMP is enabled, test it first; if successful, increase the speed slightly.

The sticks remain exchangeable; consider upgrading to a 2x16GB/4x8GB configuration? I haven’t faced any problems so far, though that doesn’t guarantee it will stay safe. Plus, I’ve enabled XMP (it was already there) since I’m not comfortable with RAM overclocking.

I choose 2x16 for a higher likelihood of XMP support, which automatically optimizes performance, versus using four cables.

You're confirming whether XMP/DOCP is active or inactive for the 4x stick, aligning with @Eigenvektor's observation and possibly IMQ-related settings.

XMP is active across all four sticks at 3200 MHz. Problems appear to occur randomly, such as Discord freezing during startup and requiring a restart to resolve (this wasn’t a problem before). Forcing a reboot by closing Windows also triggered a blue screen.

I plan to go with @Eigenvektor's suggestion and purchase a 2x16GB unit, then send back the 16GB version. Seeing four slots is nice, but these problems aren't worth it. I've seen 4x8GB models, but they're more expensive than the 2x16GB option.
