I've been considering a CPU upgrade with M.2 support and a more compact design. The Ryzen 3600 caught my attention because of its good value and performance compared to the 4790k, especially for gaming. However, I'm still unsure about VR compatibility. Could anyone provide some guidance to help me decide?

A high-end R5 3600 can handle both the 4790K and VR gaming needs. What are your thoughts on graphics options?

You own a 1060 Founders edition that works well with the Rift S you're using for VR. It seems a 1060 paired with a 3600 should function nicely for most purposes.

Certainly and quickly you’ll have space to upgrade to models like the 5700XT or GTX2070. Virtual reality actually doesn’t rely as much on the CPU as it does on the GPU. I own a 4C/8T with an older Oculus and usually play VR at around 50% of its capacity.
