Is Grid 2 Any Good?

I've just discovered that Grid 2 is available on Steam for a short period, and I'm curious about whether it qualifies as a good racing game. The reviews suggest it's a solid title, though opinions vary. What are your thoughts?

I didn't enjoy it much since I prefer Sim racers over fun racers, but it's free, so grab it and give it a shot.

Do you like drifting from start to finish? If so, you'll definitely enjoy it. Because that's exactly what GRID 2 does—no joke! You really need to drift to go fast. If you brake or slow down, it actually makes you go slower. Instead, just pull the e-brake and push your analog stick all the way, letting the car slide through corners even at top speed. You'll save precious seconds! In short, GRID 2 is pretty tough, but I think GRID Autosport is a bit better overall, though the physics aren't great either...

It's a solid arcade racer, but not a great value. I bought the series in a sale a few years ago for about £6-7 for three games (Grid 1/2/Autosport), which means each game is worth a couple of pounds. If it's that cheap or even free... grab it.

I tried it last night for the same reason—it's now free. It's pretty fun, honestly, but most importantly, it's completely free. You won't lose anything by trying it out.

It's a decent game. I've owned it for five years (though I haven't played it much; my save files are ruined), and I didn't find it bad, but it leans more toward drifting than realistic driving.

I felt a bit let down because I expected something similar to GRID 1, but it turned out to be a functional arcade game. I wouldn't really rely on the wheel and pedals since I could achieve better results using the pad.
