You can find DDR3 kits that surpass the standard DDR4 2133MHz, but I prefer DDR4 when possible.

^ Yes, different generations have varying mounting slots across the dimm. You can't apply DDR3 to any new device and vice versa.

It doesn't matter if it's slower or old, as long as it works within current systems—different connectors mean it won't fit.
