Hello, I received a complimentary issue of Metro as part of an Nvidia promotion. Occasionally, after starting my computer, free games offered by Epic Games appear in the lower-right corner of the display. Do these games truly offer unrestricted access for gameplay?

Absolutely, you “acquire” them without charge and you can enjoy them indefinitely.

I’m still completely unwilling to utilize the Epic Games Launcher. The official launch of Borderlands 3 was in April of 2020, right? And Metro Exodus simply doesn’t matter to me until it’s available on Steam.

Installing that top-tier spyware game launcher has now compromised your private details and records, which are no longer recoverable.

What? They only need an email address, and it can be a temporary, spontaneously created (undercover mail) one. Except if they’re collecting additional information from your devices, it’s simply a starting point.

Valve expresses dissatisfaction regarding Epic’s alleged use of Steam data.

Player account vulnerabilities are a concern, highlighted by a Forbes report detailing how a significant security breach exposed over 80 million Fortnite accounts.

A notable weakness in a widely-used game put countless users at risk of unauthorized access.

I remain unconvinced about utilizing Epic’s launcher or creating an account with them. I anticipated playing Metro Exodus and would have secured a pre-order had it remained available on Steam. Consequently, I am postponing my experience until the following year.

If unauthorized Steam data collection occurs without permission, does that suggest weaker Steam security? Shouldn’t Steam be preventing such activity?

Absolutely, Fortnite is significantly problematic; I was consistently receiving emails about attempts to access my Fortnite account, so I removed it and haven't experienced any further messages – indicating the launcher itself isn't the issue, but rather Fortnite specifically.

While it doesn’t necessarily inspire confidence, many popular games are being heavily targeted by hackers on the other hand.

Since 2006, I’ve possessed a Steam profile containing 395 titles. Remarkably, I’ve never experienced a security breach. It feels as protected as my financial institution. I utilize Origin and uPlay out of necessity, but I won't be using the Epic Games Launcher – not at this time.
