Searching for the best possible GPU for my money...
only Game I play is PUBG!
When it comes to price...RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti or RX6700.
When I would play more Games then I would have already ordered an RX 6700.
Maybe "XFX Speedster SWFT 309 Radeon" or "Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 6700 XT",
because I always liked Adrenalin Software more & Graphics Color & sharpness
(my impression).
But the problem is PUBG is a bit special and promoted by Nvidia, so
I fear I will have
maybe some trouble with AMD GPU? Or is it stupid to think like that?
When I search for "best GPU for PUBG" the answer always is RTX 3060, 3070,3080.
The
"Ti" with 8GB are never mentioned, why? Do I need 12 GB for PUBG?
Last 2 years I used GTX 1060 6GB, played with 100-120 FPS in QHD on 144 hz Monitor.
I know not perfect, but
I never had problems
. But
2 month ago I got problems
. Once I was
good in Machine Gun Fights, now I got no chance! Found out I got
FPS-Drops (Stutter)
, nearly
everytime the enemy comes. Sometimes only down to 80-70, but sometimes down to 40!
And of course the PUBG typical Crashes...everyone has!
So you can image that I do not need more problems!
😉
Would like to order a RX6700...
someone maybe plays PUBG too and changed from Nvidia
to AMD and can take away my fears?
My PC:
CPU: i7-8700K
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
RAM: 2x 8 GB RipJaws (3200MHz)
MB: ASRock Z370 extreme4
SSD: Crucial MX500
Tower: Fractal Design Define R6 (and 4 HDDs so a GPU shorter than 30cm would be better)
Monitor: ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-mhd
Hope someone can help me. Thanks.

PUBG isn't particularly well optimized, but a 6700 should handle that 1060 smoothly. I can consistently reach at least 100+ fps on my ultra wide, though performance drops once I'm on the ground and it rarely goes below 144fps at maximum settings. A 6700 should manage this with the right CPU. The XT version might be about 15 to 25% faster in certain situations, and if you're willing to spend a bit more for the XT model, I'd consider it. A 1060 6Gb is fine, but it's not significantly better than my old GTX 780ti. Sometimes it struggled with intense gunfights in crowded areas, often dropping below 60fps, which makes me wonder how newer maps would perform on that card. I think it's definitely a worthwhile upgrade compared to your 1060. I recommend installing DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) before installing the AMD card just in case Windows encounters issues. Good luck!

Thank you very much. So you think there is no difference between AMD & Nvidia concerning PUBG!?
I mean it is not like that, that the Game runs smoother on Nvidia Cards or less Crashes or something like that?
I know the RX 6700 XT is good and will have enough FPS to play in QHD low settings, but someone with an
AMD card will have no disadvantages vs a player with an Nvidia card in that Game. I mean on the same FPS Level?
Of course Hardware, Connection & ping plays an important role in that, let's call it "special" Game lol.
I just ask because right now, i have all the problems here, I just don't need new problems!
😉
You not even something about AMD GPUs & PUBG. Just some old vids and there someone used AMD and the FPS go
extremly up and down...hope that guy had some other problems!
😉
I mean AMD Cards 100% supports that game, same like Nvidia?
You know in PUBG every millisecond counts...right now it feels like my enemies play in a 1-2 second time hole, because of my stupid FPS-Stutter.
Pretty much unplayable.
Or what about Memory Interface, Memory Bandwidth, max VRAM 8 or 12GB?

Well, I don't really play PubG much, though when I do, it runs smoothly. A 6700xt is a bit slower than a 3070 in that game, but it's also more affordable, so it makes sense. AMD has just released a driver that boosts performance for all DX11 games, which probably narrows the gap now.

The only thing I miss about my 780ti and 1070 was shadowplay or GeForce Experience. It's much better than AMD's recording features, and it works in a window where AMD does too—but you can't set it to record 2 or 5 minutes of gameplay if you're playing inside a window. It's not terrible, but setup isn't as straightforward. I'd probably prefer OBS or something similar, like what I use, since the Windows Gamebar works well enough for me.

That's my main complaint: AMD GPUs are fun to tweak. If you get a 6700xt, it's easy to push it to 6800 or even 6800xt with overclocking and other adjustments. Nvidia has always been less exciting in terms of customization, and I find their performance not as impressive compared to AMD.

PubG runs just fine on an AMD card, just like it does on a Nvidia one—no noticeable difference in smoothness or stability. As long as I'm playing, it's smooth and stable. Except for that, I'm not great at the game itself. PubG has been around for a while now, so I think most of the issues from Nvidia or AMD have mostly been resolved by now.

For 1440p, 8GB is more than enough. 1080p with 8GB is a bit too much, but it's still useful in other games. Some titles might need 12GB at 1440p, so it depends on your needs. For PubG, 8GB should be sufficient unless you're planning to play at 4K, where 12GB would be better. The 6700xt might struggle with 4K resolutions on certain games at reasonable settings.

Thank you again.
I would really like to order a 6700xt, but I’m not sure if there’s anyone in the PUBG community who uses an AMD card, which made me a bit nervous.
But of course people follow what others do, so everyone seems to be using Nvidia, right? I don’t think I need any recording software—I use Mirillis Action. It’s really good, straightforward, and doesn’t require much resources. The only software I’ve ever bought was about 17 dollars, and I’ve been using it for years. Thanks so far.
When someone else has played PUBG with AMD and Nvidia, please share your experiences here.

It's true you need to keep in mind that Nvidia holds a significantly larger market share compared to AMD. AMD began to lose ground back then, not being competitive on high-end and mid-range cards. After AMD acquired ATI, they released the HD6000 and HD7000 series, which were decent but didn't really stand out much. Performance declined with each generation, like the R9 290X, which was like a space heater struggling against the GTX970 and using three times more power.

Around the RX5000 line, AMD improved, followed by the RX6000 series, which I see as a positive move for the company, though Ray Tracing wasn't great. So AMD has to work harder to regain its share in the GPU market. As a result, you'll likely see more Nvidia users, even though I'm still part of a COD clan and chat with them regularly. Out of the 23 active members, only two use newer AMD GPUs. The rest of my friends definitely use Nvidia, except for one who still uses his GTX 960. I even sent him an old AMD Vega 64 yesterday, so now there are three AMD users in that group.

Thanks for your reply! Pretty mentioned that few people use AMD. Sorry to tell you but I came across some other comments that many users were dissatisfied with their 6700xt.
@pubg
(FPS fluctuating a lot)... so I went for an MSI RTX 3060 Ti Gaming X! Yeah, a shame I wasn’t more daring!
🙄
So far I’m fairly content with it even though it didn’t fix my FPS drops (though it’s much better in TDM... maybe PUBG is the issue???)...in the game I actually have higher FPS than expected! @Taego 160-220...only around 145 in some cases...! Usage is mostly at 60% or less, probably because my i7-8700K limits the GPU. I haven’t tested much yet. Default 3D settings, low latency off, no max power just normal, QHD everything set to low... only Textures, View Distance and Antialiasing at medium. Overall I’m quite satisfied so far. And in most videos my Display Latency (experience) is around 5-7ms...I see 3-4ms... which is quite impressive! I don’t want to give a positive impression about Nvidia...I’m an AMD fan!

Paying that much for one match is crazy in my opinion, but you're right. Still, it's your call. Just to mention, PUBG isn't really optimized well for anything higher than 1080p, that's definitely true.

Finding another great game is tough, even PUBG isn't perfect! 😅
Playing something else like Super People or Valorant makes me quit instantly! Everything about them is terrible compared to PUBG.
