Is a laptop equipped with a Ryzen 5 5500U and RTX 3050 Ti suitable for gaming?
Hello there. I am looking for a budget entry-level gaming laptop. I found an Acer Aspire Gaming 7 model with:
-AMD Ryzen 5 5500U CPU
-Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (TDP: 60W)
-1x8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM
-512 GB NVMe SSD
-15.6" Full HD IPS 144Hz Screen
It is more affordable than other 3050 models in my country. The CPU could be an issue for games due to the U label. The 8GB RAM should be upgraded soon.
I also discovered an Acer Nitro 5 with RTX 3050 at a similar price range:
-AMD Ryzen 5 5600H CPU
-Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 (TDP: 75W)
-1x8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM
-512 GB NVMe SSD
-15.6" Full HD IPS 144 Hz Screen
The laptop RTX 3050 matches the desktop GTX 1060 3GB model in terms of gaming capability. It supports 1080p games at around 60 FPS when using maximum settings. The laptop RTX 3050 TI corresponds to the desktop GTX 1060 6GB version, also capable of 1080p at ~60 FPS with full settings. The main difference lies in VRAM capacity; otherwise, both GPU versions perform equally well. Overall, the RTX 3050 and its TI variant are impressive, whether used in a laptop or on a desktop (the desktop version is roughly 25% more powerful).
