Is a 550W power supply sufficient for a Ryzen 5 7600?
Hi Guys,
I'm planning an upgrade and checking if my existing PSU is adequate for the new build.
My current setup includes a Cooler Master 550W 80+Bronze unit.
I want to confirm whether this power supply meets the requirements now or if I should switch to a higher capacity one.
Details: MSI PRO B650M-P, Ryzen 5 7600, Ant Esports ICE Chroma 240 ARGB liquid cooler, 2x16GB 6000MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super, 1TB M.2 SSD, 2TB HDD, and four fans.
Could you please advise if the 550W PSU is sufficient at the moment?
I tested a 2700x and r9 390 with a 650W cooler master, still running my Linux box 3900x and a 3070. Your results might differ.
Calculate the total power usage of all components, increase it by 10%, and check if it fits within your system's capacity. If you have extra around 100W, it should work.
the old 500W power supply lacking an 80 PLUS certification isn't adequate, especially if it lacks any PCIe power connectors
