You're evaluating motherboards for a gaming PC setup. The 1Gb port offers lower cost but may not deliver optimal performance, especially at higher resolutions like 1440p. The 2.5Gb ports provide faster data transfer, which can help reduce input lag when streaming or running demanding games. Consider the trade-offs between budget and speed based on your usage needs.

Streaming via Steam at home consumes only a small portion of Gigabit Ethernet's capacity. You won’t feel any change in performance. However, if a motherboard with 2.5G offers similar value, it could improve file transfers.

Faster Ethernet shouldn't affect input lag. In practice, it likely wouldn't change stream quality either, especially if you're only streaming a game. If you're doing multiple tasks—like streaming and downloading—you might hit your 1G limit while 2.5G could manage it. But in real life, you'd probably slow down downloads or avoid simultaneous streaming and downloading.
