Irregular no signal and steady NVDDMK error observed for model 3080FE
Irregular no signal and steady NVDDMK error observed for model 3080FE
CPU model: Ryzen 7 3700x
Memory: GSKILK TRIDENTZ RGB 16gb 3200MHz
GPU: MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI
GPU driver: RTX3080 FE
Power supply: Corsair CX750m 2017 edition
Recent updates: Newest NVIDIA drivers, MSI click BIOS, Windows 11 updated.
Issue description: Occasionally no signal detected from GPU, lights dim and fans stop, then restart after a short delay. Solution so far is rebooting until it happens again. Event Viewer shows "Display Driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has recovered successfully."
First occurrence happened right after installing the 3080 and enabling auto tuning in GeForce Experience. System would perform a scan, then crash and require a reboot.
Tried fixes:
- Disabled auto tuning
- Reinstalled drivers
- Used DDU with NVIDIA driver
- Reinstalled GeForce Experience
- Updated MSI click BIOS to latest version
- Restored BIOS to factory defaults
- Reseated GPU twice
- Verified power connections and high performance mode
- Checked user permissions in NVIDIA Control Panel
- Ran precision test on GPU clock (1710MHZ at idle)
Additional observations:
- GPU clock remains steady even under minimal load.
- Black screen recurs faster after reboots.
- No visible difference when changing RAM or BIOS settings.
- AORUS engine was turned off during non-Windows startup apps in MSConfig.
- Possible random behavior unrelated to games or specific tasks.
I’m struggling and feel stuck, no clear answers left. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated as I’m running out of forum help.
It seems like the problem might be hardware-related if you've already run DDU and your operating system isn't conflicting. I'd consider a clean Windows installation as a test, then assess the faulty component if the issue persists in the new OS.
A fresh installation on an empty hard drive didn’t fix the problem after updating the NVIDIA drivers. The memtest86+ completed without any errors. It might be related to power rather than the GPU itself. I’m aware the CX750M isn’t top-tier, especially considering its age and power rating.
