You're facing some challenges with IPv6 setup. It sounds like you're still getting mixed signals from your network tools. Have you tried verifying the IPv6 settings directly on your PC? Sometimes the adapter configuration or DNS settings can cause unexpected behavior. Also, double-check that your router supports IPv6 and that it's properly configured to accept connections. If you're still stuck, consider reaching out to the community forums with more details about your setup—sometimes others have similar issues.

Link-local acts as a substitute for manual or DHCP IP setup based on your knowledge. Does your ISP offer IPv6? Not every provider can support it everywhere, so it's worth contacting them directly to confirm. For instance, AT&T and Spectrum both support IPv6 in some areas, though not universally. If they don't, you might consider a 6in4 tunnel, but I'm unsure how that would function without prior experience.

I can't guarantee Frontier fully supports IPv6 in your region. I'm located about 70 miles northeast of you, and we've never received Fios or Frontier service there. For a clear response, reach out to Frontier directly. From my quick search, the consensus seems to be a "no" https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r322024...v6-support

Verizon FIOS currently lacks IPv6 support on their network side. Verizon moved millions of IPv4 addresses from Verizon Cellular to Verizon Wireline, meaning they have no need or incentive to implement IPv6. Frontier’s situation might differ overall, but if they control your area, they won’t make any adjustments until their next update cycle, which could take years.

Ensure you receive an IPv6 prefix from your ISP. DHCPv6 won't function without it. Link-local settings only apply to devices within the same segment. It operates at the lower layers of IPv6 handling.

The article discusses varying reports about IPv6 implementation. It suggests Verizon is beginning to add IPv6, which raises concerns since Frontier was likely running an IPv4 network before this transition. The company appears to be facing financial challenges that prevent it from making necessary upgrades.
