Browser compatibility isn't available for SMB. The current iOS version can identify the link and move it to the Files app, though iOS 9 lacks that feature.

I discovered this app in the app store (LAN drive SAMBA Server Client) that works with iOS8 and supports SMB protocol, though I’m not sure about its reliability or security. I linked to the Apple App Store page (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lan-drive-...1317727404) and noted it doesn’t confirm compatibility personally. I also looked into AFC2 and USBMux protocols, which seem to match iPad Mini and iOS9. You might try use ifuse for more details.
