Interpreting r15 ratings and issues with the 9700k model
I just completed a bunch of Cinebench R15 tests on all my rigs, and most results matched except for two machines with 9700K chips. The first one (my gaming rig) has a 9700K in an Auros Z390 Pro Wi-Fi, 16GB Trident 3200 MHz with XMP enabled, 1070 on an NVMe drive—everything else is standard. The second (my wife's editing PC) is a 9700K in an Asrock B365, 16GB at 2400 MHz, no XMP support, with a 1060. Even when I turned off all background apps like Razer Synapse and Icue, the gaming PC still scored around 1460 while hers hovered between 1460 and 1482. Should I worry that the gaming rig's 9700K is not working right?
Both setups perform similarly, with a difference of just a few points.
The second PC (wife's editing version) is outperforming my gaming setup. I'm consistently getting scores around 1460s, while she's reaching up to 1482. Also, the Z390 Pro WiFi board I own tends to lag—after loading it, it shows a splash screen, then a flashing cursor for about six seconds before spinning the Windows interface, with the ASRock component appearing roughly half the time. Maybe the BIOS is not up to date?
This shows a minor difference, possibly due to background tasks not present on your wife's system.
