What does this really imply? Does it suggest the USB 3.2 Gen 2 isn't automatically recognized? Would I need to take additional steps to enable it? If that's the case, what specific actions would be required? For clarity, this information came from the GIGABYTE Z490 Vision D manual. I've been checking out motherboards with TB3, Wi-Fi, and a Type-C port all in one place. Thanks.

Well, okay. Does that mean having a USB Type-C port on the front will definitely work for you? I’m just worried about that part. Everything else you mentioned—specs, bandwidth, etc.—really doesn’t make much sense to me. I’m pretty basic and only care about the simple stuff.

There isn't a Type C "header" – the actual header is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connector, which means it can terminate in a Type C. They're simply using "Type C" as a marketing term. To clarify, a Type C requires a 3.2 Gen 2 interface, so you could technically extract a Type C from a device with that header.
