I currently use Cox Gigablast with a Surfboard 3.1 and a Netgear Nighthawk AX1800 mesh setup. I added a network switch and now have two PCs hardwired, one PS4, two PS4s on Wi-Fi, three smart TVs, and six phones. The PCs use CAT6 cables with speed tests around 450mbps down and 50mbps up. - not ideal, but they’re both quite outdated. My switch shows full 1000mbps at the hub, but the PS4s only get 20-30mbps down and 200KBPS up. I’m experiencing serious lag on the PS4 and occasional PC issues. After installing the switch, things started to worsen. How can I improve my internet performance and resolve these problems? I know I’m asking a lot, but adding POS systems for transactions would make things worse, so I need a solution now. What upgrades or changes should I make?

Can I install a coupler around the switch to bypass the switch and let the PS4 connect directly? If possible, could you check the Cat5 cable elsewhere? Would it help to test the port on another network switch? Can I try various ports on the Netgear switch? Could I dismantle everything except one component at a time from the Netgear to see if speeds improve? What is the model of the Netgear switch? The goal is to pinpoint the problem—whether it's the switch, the cabling, or something else—by testing one item at a time so we can identify and fix the issue more easily.

This new switch arrived from Best Buy, possibly only four days old. You can view it here: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Ethernet-...2241&psc=1 I attempted to swap the PS4 from the far right port to the third one, but nothing changed. I’m wondering if bandwidth is being drained despite having plenty of resources. The setup looks like the modem connects to the main AX1800 router, then the Ethernet cable goes to the switch, which supplies internet to the PC and PS4. The satellite mesh unit sits above my PC tower, and the PC is directly connected to it. My PC keeps showing intermittent problems, while the PS4 seems to be struggling.

It's really strange. I tested the connection twice on the console. The first showed 35mbps down and 2mpbs up, then the second was about 20mbps down and 17kbps up – the lowest I've seen. So I moved to Wi-Fi. Got 47mbps down and 7.1mbps up. Then I switched back to the LAN cable and ran another test.

It seems there could be an issue with the cable connecting the router and the PS4.

It seems the cable is likely the issue, as Wi-Fi performed better.

While connected to the satellite, the device must still send signals through the main mesh router. Any interference or weak Wi-Fi can worsen the already slow performance on any connected gadget. But since the PS4 stays plugged into the switch—which is linked to the primary mesh router—this creates a stable "wired" link, explaining why it performs better in tests. Are you getting rates above 550/50Mbps?

I’m charged for the Gigablast service that claims to deliver 1GB per second, but at the connection point I see 1244 Mbps and it seems to decrease after passing through my gear.
