The issue seems to be with how the hyperlinks are displayed on your desktop. After reinstalling Windows, the links appear with a .url extension, which is unusual. When you double-click them, Chrome opens the browser normally and shows the source code instead of a normal link. The icon has changed to include the Chrome/Iron logo. Your concern is valid—Chrome doesn’t process the file in a way that shows the usual link preview. You might want to check if the desktop shortcuts are being generated correctly or if there’s a conflict with other applications. Let me know if you'd like further guidance!

Select the desired URL file and link it to Chrome, such as by right-clicking, navigating to Open with, and picking the default application.
