Internet issues appear only with certain apps, while others stay connected.
Hello, I'm facing some problems with internet access in my browsers. On my PC, Chrome and Edge aren't working properly when trying to visit websites. Firefox also didn't work despite being downloaded. It seems the issue is limited to web browsers—Windows Store reports it correctly. Other apps on my PC still connect fine. I've tried various troubleshooting steps: connected via Ethernet, switched networks, updated firmware, disabled firewall, ran virus scans, manually set DNS, checked other devices, and even used command-line commands like ipconfig /flushdns. Still no success. I also noticed a recent Windows update and some Windows Defender patches. The HTTP requests in Chrome sometimes fail after a short delay, and I can still use Steam's browser or other non-browser apps. It looks like the problem might be related to network configuration or a specific app issue. Anyone have ideas or additional steps to try? I frequently restarted the PC earlier and noticed Firefox or Edge would sometimes load webpages. When I opened Chrome, connectivity issues would appear again. It might be related to the number of tabs I have when launching Chrome; I plan to uninstall and reinstall Chrome later (I’m currently away). A router reboot could also help.
I've attempted the following without any enhancements: Restarted the router on Windows 11, then performed a system restore. However, this didn't resolve the issue because of potential antivirus limitations. I disabled all Bitdefender features, but the restore still failed. Finally, I executed a partial Windows reinstall (preserving personal files). The network is operational now, but I felt compelled to take a drastic measure. It remains unclear what caused it, especially since I only adjusted printer settings the day prior.
