Hello, we are preparing to purchase a new home, but the internet speed there is capped at around 30mbps (country side rural area). This is quite low for me, and I need to convince my wife that she wouldn’t want to live with such a connection. To make my case, I’d like to temporarily restrict my OS speed so we can see just how slow 30mbps really is—not just in theory. I’ve searched through the Windows 10 registry but found nothing there; the only adjustment I can make is limiting Windows update speeds. Right now I’m connected to fiber with 500mbps, so imagine the shock if we downgrade to just 30mbps. Instead of downloading nearly 60mbps, I might only get about 4mbps if lucky.

The router from Virgin Medial doesn't support those features, unfortunately.

big oof on the internet, besides if you can't find a solution on Windows, some 4G networks might handle around 30mbps and set up a hotspot. It also depends on the hardware you own, as some motherboards come with bandwidth limiting software included in their internet package.
