Hello, last December I acquired a friends I7-7700k for my Frankenstein Rig—it was my first Intel CPU. It’s been a bit confusing due to its high heat when idle or running. Recently, I noticed it spikes to 100% usage in Minecraft, with temperatures reaching up to 83°C (package) and only 40°C during idle. Considering my room is around 26-28°C, it seems the idle temps aren’t too high. I have a Corsair Hydro H100x with two 120mm fans, and I’ve checked the hardware temperatures after running Minecraft at full speed.

The load temps are a bit on the high side but nothing to worry about.

A temperature that's too high would be considered clearly bad.

I recommend using HWInfo64 for all your measurements to confirm precision. 100c core will limit speeds, and anything below that is a secure temperature range. Lower is always preferable when possible.

I'd start getting anxious. The 7700k tends to overheat. I own mine for more than five years, it's watercooled too and still gets hot. You might consider adjusting the fan curve to be more aggressive or boosting the fan speed if possible. Otherwise, I wouldn't be too concerned.
