Hey everyone,
I have a query regarding the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. My notebook is already overclocked, and I’ve been informed that after using the XTU, the software was removed from the system. I’ve also heard that reinstalling the XTU will reset the current overclock settings. My concerns are:
1. Is it accurate that installing the Intel XTU software will clear out the existing overclock settings and restore the BIOS to its original factory state?
2. If that’s correct, are there alternative methods to check the present overclock configuration? I understand from CPU-Z that details like chip type (Intel® Core™ i7-3740QM @ 2.70GHz), overclocking speed (3.5 GHz, which fluctuates around 3.5 and 1.2), multiplier (35 and 12) can be useful.

Thanks.

Your CPU operates at 2.7 but can reach up to 3.7Ghz when turbo, as long as power and heat are manageable; this isn't related to XTU.
