Hello everyone. I just purchased all the components for my AMD system and found out that my RAM set only has XMP certification. The parts used are: two 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws S5 S5 Pro modules, a MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk Wi-Fi motherboard, and an R5 7600X. Can I still get the most performance from this setup? Or should I switch to EXPO certified RAM instead?

In theory, everything should work. XMP is fully compatible. Make sure you have the newest BIOS installed for optimal results.

With AMD systems, EXPO-rated kits perform best, though they aren't mandatory. Most AMD boards struggle to interpret XMP profiles on non-EXPO memory kits, particularly at first, meaning full capability isn't guaranteed. Enabling XMP can cause significant instability if it boots, but newer BIOS updates have largely resolved this issue—though you may need to disable XMP and set values manually for consistent results. This approach is more labor-intensive but far more reliable, regardless of the kit's original rating.

Your system runs Intel XMP but uses AMD components—will it function properly?
