I own a machine with an i3 7100 and understand the Intel HD Graphics 630 driver is only officially for Windows 10. I prefer stable software over the frequent beta versions. I discovered a suitable alternative driver for Windows 8.1 that functions well, solving my issue. Now I upgrade to a new laptop with an i5 8250u, expecting better performance. I plan to switch from Windows 10 to 8.1 using another compatible driver for the Intel UHD 620, but after extensive searching and failed attempts, I ended up installing Windows 10 again. Could anyone here provide a working driver for 8.1 on this device? The speed difference between the two systems is significant—my old desktop boots in just five seconds from a Toshiba HDD compared to the sluggish Windows 10 with a MX 500 SSD.

Have you attempted to set up Windows 10 drivers on Windows 8? You can enable compatibility mode and if that doesn’t succeed, try using Device Manager to install it manually. https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28289/a...0.6373.exe This is the most recent driver for the Intel UHD 620 iGPU. If all options fail, you’ll likely have to accept Windows 10 as-is, even though it can sometimes feel like Beta software. The newer versions of Windows 10 are less problematic compared to previous releases. You might also consider using Linux, especially Manjaro, if possible. I test the compatibility settings and install manually. Both Micro$oft and Intel are pushing Windows 10 hard this time. I’m already using Linux in dual boot, but I can’t play HearthStone or Magic The Gathering Arena in Wine. It’s disappointing, but if I could enjoy these games again, I won’t look back at Windows 10.

It sounds like you're facing some challenges right now. You might need to switch to Windows 10 at the moment. In the future, Linux could become an option thanks to Steam and their efforts to make many Windows games run smoothly on Linux with decent performance. However, it's not quite there yet, so you'll have to stick with Windows 10 for now.
