Intel Turbo Boost Problems
Intel Turbo Boost Problems
Hello Everyone! I wanted to quickly check why, when I set the BLCK to 182 with the multiplier on x22, it returns to x21 when Turbo Boost is off. However, when Turbo Boost is active, it stays at x22. I also need to understand why my multiplier remains stuck at x22 only. I managed to reach 4.03GHz with the multiplier at x22, but I feel it might not be enough since CPU-Z shows a value between 9 and 26, suggesting a maximum of x26. Or is the multiplier irrelevant as long as I increase BLCK? I'm quite confused because I'm trying to get my PC to reach 5000 primes per second, and I think it's possible but I'm stuck at 4950. I'm puzzled because when I run the CPU at 3.75GHz it easily hits 4950, but at 4GHz it struggles to reach even 4500. The maximum temperature while using the stock cooling is around 70°C to 79°C, assuming only the benchmark software is running. It seems like thermal throttling isn't the issue. I have no clear direction now, as most online guides recommend disabling Turbo Boost, but when I do, performance drops even further.
Why is the BLCK set so high? Why not just rely on the multiplier? Don't focus on the CPUZ multiplier range—it's incorrect. Check what multiplier you've chosen in the BIOS instead.
Why was the BLCK set so high? Why not just use the multiplier? It doesn’t make sense to check the CPUZ multiplier range—it’s incorrect. Focus on what you’ve chosen in the BIOS instead.
Does the multiplier really matter if you just increase BLCK?
Man, you should spend some time reading overclocking guides so you understand what you’re doing before damaging your system.
The main goal was to discover why my multiplier changes based on conditions, not just stick to the setting I made.
I chose a high BLCK because my multiplier wouldn’t stay stable.
If I had to rephrase,
Why is my multiplier stuck or limited to a certain value?
Why does it drop when turbo boost is off but stays when enabled?
Most overclocking guides suggest disabling turbo boost, yet it still works perfectly for my setup and keeps the multiplier as intended.
I asked this question because the multiplier feels so unpredictable, and I feel I have little control over it due to my motherboard and/or BIOS.
