Intel or AMD for Rendering ? & WHY ?
Hello guys I'm new here and i am a 3D artist. last month i lost my Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard and problem still exist.here is short story of mine problem to you get know about my discussion . the problem is when i turned PC on system get power for 1 sec and gone. we tested all parts and everything was good except motherboard, and after this i send the board to the repair specialist. because of this i should sell my hardware and buy new one, because i cant find new Asus x99 in my country market and i cant order new one from international market like amazon or Alibaba or ... for no make sense and very high cost and also Ruthless sanctions. ( we have low value currency vs dollar ) anyway, i cant get another motherboard model because my cpu is 5960X with LGA2011-V3 socket.so finally i decide to buy new Mb and cpu and cpu cooler. and here is my question. I've research about Intel or AMD CPU 2019 & 2020 models, life and parameters for 2 weeks and still i didn't get a satisfying result. as you know before i started this i told you im 3d artist and my work is modelling and rendering my main question is about life of CPU models between Intel and AMD for rendering job in cpu based software's and its very important to me and second is i heard and read about new AMD models benchmarks and performance but some body told me its just in a paper not in rendering or calculation and somebody told me AMD is just for gaming ... so after this long story I'm confused about models and hardware's life time and which is better for rendering. and let me add this, i have no experience to work with AMD Cpu model and after all i want to know best MB model for choosen CPU. Say whatever comes to your mind that helps me. Thanks and sorry for my bad English language I bought My PC 5 years ago MB: Asus X99 Deluxe usb 3.1 GPU: Asus GTX 980TI Strix DDR5 CPU: Intel 5960X LGA2011-v3 CPU Cooler: Enermax LIQTECH 240HP Ram: Gskill Ripjaws 3000 16G HDD: Western blue 1T SSD: Samsung 850 pro 128G Power: Cooler Master 1200w Platinum Case: Cooler Master HAFX Regards
Unclear who gave that advice, but it seems they don’t understand much (no worries). The platform PGA 1331 can serve both pros and casual users. Achieving a 3900x with an X570 board is excellent unless your finances permit more advanced options. The 3900x offers strong IPC and supports 12 and 24 cores/threads, while the 3950x provides even better performance with 16 and 32 cores/threads, plus top IPC among CPUs. If you’re interested in AVX features, these processors will perform well as well.
It relies on the specific software you employ and whether it leverages capabilities only available with Intel right now. Look for performance benchmarks from others using the tools you actually rely on. In general, AMD's Zen 2 CPUs match modern Intel models, offering better value. I'm unsure about regional pricing details, so verify that. Do you require substantial RAM size or speed? That could influence choosing a Threadripper or Cascade Lake-X processor. The Cascade Lake-X supports AVX-512, and compatible software can enhance performance noticeably. Edited June 5, 2020 by porina typos
It depends on the specific Intel CPU you're looking at, but when comparing productivity between an i9 10900k and a 3900x, the 3900x generally performs better. The 3800x also holds its own against many i7 models, though AMD options tend to be more affordable. Even if one application shows a speedup of just a second, the price difference—around $200 to $500—makes the cost advantage of Intel less justified.
Sure, I understand. I'm in agreement with you—this is pretty close to the 9900k... Thanks for your support on the 3900X and your help!
It has the top AVX 512 speed among available options if you're focused on that
If my estimate matches the market or country you're talking about, it's clear that acquiring new hardware at fair prices is challenging due to trading and banking limitations. A few years back, I searched for computer components there and found they were roughly a generation older and pricier compared to Europe. Your top options might be to explore the used market or investigate whether you can purchase parts from a nearby country without facing high import costs. There could also be individuals engaged in import/export work who can source the necessary components from abroad.
