Hello everyone, I updated my system with an SSD and an HDD that uses Intel Optane (now a M.2 SSD) and now rely on the HDD for regular files like photos and videos. I turned off Intel Optane in the rapid storage software, but after adjusting BIOS settings to use AHCI in Sata Mode Selection, I can’t boot and just restart when trying. Could anyone suggest a solution? If I remove Intel Optane, I’ll only see the new SSD without the old HDD.

Your boot manager might be on the drive that includes the optane cache. Consider choosing a different boot device to test. Also, try starting from a USB stick to check if all drives are detected. You should verify all drives in the BIOS before using them in Windows. I haven't used an optane cache before. Is it permanent or volatile storage? If it's permanent, your boot manager could be on that optane. To resolve this, follow these steps: 1. Backup important data. 2. Adjust your BIOS to display all drives. I don’t see a reason you can’t keep optane active, but it’s up to you. 3. Perform a fresh Windows installation and update drivers as needed. Good luck!

I’ve located all three drives now (the missing HDD is included). However, I’m still having trouble disabling Intel Optane in the BIOS—technically it wasn’t a software problem. It’s crucial to note that the Intel Optane SATA brick was removed, which resolved the issue. I had to replace my new SSD in the slot. It seems irrelevant that Optane remains active in the BIOS. I used the Optane cache to speed up a HDD (actually a 2018 SSD), allowing me to use it for games and storage. Currently, everything appears normal except for the odd Intel Optane setting in the BIOS.

If optane is disabled through software, it counts as deactivated. Cannot use optane as a standalone SSD? This might be a good alternative. Have a great day!

It was simple to turn off the software, but the problem arose when I first disabled it and later removed the Optane module. Then the HDD it was connected to wasn’t recognized as a secondary drive. After adjusting Intel Optane settings in BIOS (with an on/off toggle), it switched from RAID to ACHI mode. However, the machine would restart repeatedly while trying to boot. I suspect the issue isn’t about being in RAID; both SSDs are M.2 and the old HDD is SATA, which is now used mainly for storing pictures. The boot partition is built into Optane. I'm not very experienced with its performance benefits since I haven't used it before.

For instance, certain games would load much faster on an Optane SSD compared to a standard HDD, matching the performance of an SSD at that time. The Boot partition remains separate from Optane. I used a main SSD containing the OS and a few games, followed by a 2TB HDD, with Optane integrated to boost its speed.
