I acquired the motherboard and RAM about five months ago, but there’s no indication of the XE Cascade Lake. Is this just a joke? I saw somewhere it might take until July, which is really disappointing. I’m considering switching to an AMD 3950x since it seems unlikely we’ll ever see a 109xxXE again.

They are meant to arrive in June, but regardless you won’t be able to use your present motherboard since Intel is updating the socket.

Oh no Im sorry it is for a 10980XE I have the x299x and RAM , and rest of stuff I have already. Ive been waiting for 6 months to no avail. While the 3950x is in stock everywhere. Why is Intel doing this, I have no idea.

Well, 24 or 32 core systems are quick, just like dual Xeon chips with 28 cores each. I don’t require multithreaded tasks because I don’t use Premiere or any Adobe software. If I were a serious video editor, rendering times would dominate my budget. I’d prefer around six cores max; the other twelve would sit idle since I won’t push all cores to full capacity. The 10980XE single core could handle a TR core for a task, but in rendering it would be slower. For most of my work, I’ll stick to 4 to 6 cores. My cousin’s husband works at Intel in Silicon Valley—he lives in Oakland and mentioned he can offer a good discount. He said the price might drop to about $800 or less.
