You'll experience improved performance with dual channel. However, 8+4 indicates only 8 GB will run in dual channel while the rest remains single channel. The functionality isn't assured. What are the timing details of your current stick and what specifications does the new one have?

They offer upgraded OEM parts that enhance the RAM. I’m unsure about the exact performance details until I try one. A 8GB version would likely be preferable over a single 4GB, especially for tasks like 1080p video editing with Chrome.

Can you buy the same two sticks again? That would let you get dual channel, even though it's still 8GB, which can improve performance in some games. For non-gaming purposes, I’d choose the highest capacity.

Optimizing these tools helps devices with under 8 GB RAM run smoother. Those needing more than 8 GB gain performance from both quicker and slower memory options, as long as the system supports mixed memory settings.
