Hi everyone, I've built numerous Intel-based machines over the years. My friend recently asked for a high-end system, so I suggested AMD. I installed the AMD Chipset Software (version 7.04.09.545) on a fresh Windows 11 setup and wanted to know if there are any other AMD-specific tools or adjustments needed. I've heard some reports that the 9800X3D might struggle with certain games due to its core selection and cache handling. If you need help finding a guide for a recent Intel system, feel free to ask! Mainly focuses on chipset drivers and PBO2 adjustments. AMD includes a significant amount of crucial backend functionality within the chipset driver, making it essential for optimal performance. AMD tends to overestimate the voltage baseline on their CPUs, so applying PBO2 to lower the voltage slightly is likely to boost performance or cut power usage.
If this model is the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, you won't need to worry about core selection. All eight cores are grouped together in the same chip, giving each access to the V-Cache. Any worries about core placement are specific to the Ryzen 9 X3D version.
