Intel I9 12900KF runs quickly on CPU tasks
Hello everyone. I'm trying to figure out some strange behavior with my recent build. I have an i9 12900KF paired with 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM and an RTX 3090 FE, all powered by an MSI MPG Z690 carbon WiFi board. While it's mainly for work, I often play games on it, but I usually can't hit more than 70 frames in most titles like Modern Warfare or Apex. After checking, my CPU time tends to be around 15ms and GPU time between 4 and 10ms. This problem seemed to improve for a while—sometimes I could run at about 190 frames in 2K resolution until it reappeared. Interestingly, the CPU usage stays below 20%. I'm curious what might be causing this issue, as it's becoming quite frustrating. Also, I noticed that even when the PC is idle, some efficiency cores (8 through 11) seem to be running with no apps open. I've attached some readings from those cores in this post. Anyone have any ideas about why this happens and how to fix it? Also, I dropped my CPU onto the Mobo pin during setup, which I think resolved the problem—now the PC is working smoothly for over six months. Do you think this might be related?
You're viewing the incorrect page. Use the processes tab to identify resource usage. Your GPU appears to be near full capacity. The snapshot was captured during idle time. W11 is higher than W10 on the 12th generation Intel system. The operating system version isn't specified.
Thanks for the update. These images were captured while I was attempting to play a game to demonstrate the CPU load during the build, yet maintaining a smooth 60 FPS in Warzone. This explains why the GPU usage reached 57%. I’m using Windows 11. Are you suggesting this isn’t the post I should have shared? Appreciate your reply again.
