I've been preparing for some improvements to my setup. Right now I have an Intel i7 4790, an Asus Q87m-e motherboard with 32GB RAM at 1600MHz and an RX580 8GB in an Antec DF600 case. Do you really need a upgrade? For gaming, what would be the best options? The system tends to get a bit loud. I play games like F12020, GTA Online, Red Dead Online, Rocket League, and COD.
Are you sure you need an upgrade? The decision depends on your needs. Do you REALLY want one, or is it just necessary? New Ryzen models, including the older 3000 series, will outperform the i7 4790, but you’ll have to replace the CPU, RAM, and motherboard.
I recommend a first or second generation Ryzen processor for better performance compared to the first generation.
Are you using a display with a refresh rate above 100Hz? Otherwise, the upgrade isn't necessary at this time.
