Hello, your system specs indicate some performance issues. After the latest Windows update (23H2), the Ethernet controller frequently crashes during idle mode. You receive an error saying "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems" (code 43). I've reinstalled drivers and run a Windows reset, but the controller still needs to be disabled and enabled repeatedly for it to function. Occasionally, a system restart helps, though it can take hours between updates without an issue. A continuous ping test prevents this, but it causes lag. Remote desktop works smoothly with no interruptions. It seems this problem is likely tied to a Windows update or driver conflict. Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated. Your specs: Asus TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS D4, Asus DSL N17U N300, Gigabyte Router (latest firmware), Windows 11 X64. Event Viewer log: The description for Event ID 163 from source e2fnexpress isn't available—either the component isn't installed locally or the install is corrupted. You can try installing or repairing it on your machine. If it happened on another device, ensure the event details were saved. The message resource exists but isn't found in the table."

I would reinstall the driver manually from Intel directly. Check the latest updates for Windows Server 2025 and ensure all power settings are turned off in Device Manager if the issue persists.

If you're not already familiar, the I225-V has a long history of failures. Some people are fine (i've had a few) but others its a complete disaster and have to RMA their boards. So much discussion on the topic with just about every possible fix , but there is the possibility it'll never just work correctly again.

It looks like the I225-V chip has experienced several problems. Sending the board back is no longer an option because it’s past warranty (I purchased it in 2021). Right now, I’ve turned off power management on the controller using Device Manager as Alex suggested, and I’m keeping an eye to see if this happens again.

I'm closing this now. It looks like Alex's suggestion to disable power management on the Ethernet card resolved the issue. Thanks once more. It's been nearly two days without any problems. If the problem comes back, I'll reopen this thread.
