Intel introduced a driver stack injector, simplifying compatibility between Windows 7 and older operating systems with new hardware. I’m currently using a custom, unofficial version of Windows 7 Ultimate that I developed 12 years ago. Significant modifications were made by adapting ideas from the Linux kernel—such as scheduler behavior and memory management—to create a smoother experience. The injector allows me to embed the necessary drivers directly into the installation media. This approach has been very helpful. It’s ideal if you prioritize performance and stability over the latest features or security patches, and you’re willing to accept a more hands-on setup. There’s plenty of documentation available from my work and others who have tackled similar projects. Drivers will need to be adjusted for each computer, as hardware varies widely. Building a comprehensive driver database for all PCs isn’t practical due to the sheer diversity of components. Wishing you success and encouragement to those who enjoy this kind of technical work.
