Curious if anyone has experienced issues with Intel for an RMA on a very unstable CPU. I own one that's still under warranty but has failed, and I've never needed to contact Intel for a breakdown after 25+ years of PC building. Also, if this is in the appropriate section, feel free to relocate it—I think it's safe here.

I reviewed the system and noticed several signs indicating instability. I checked performance trends, observed erratic behavior under load, and looked into recent firmware updates. Intel has offered extended overclockers warranties for years, even back in the early 2000s. It seems unlikely you'll face significant problems with a return merchandise authorization, though such issues are uncommon for Intel components.

Symptoms include random freezes, crashes sometimes with screeching from the audio out. Perform diagnostics by checking temperatures in HWMonitor, suspect faulty memory and run a RAM test, identify errors, replace the RAM, disable XMP settings and revert to stock. Ensure the motherboard wasn’t overpowering. Swapped in a 7700K, replaced it with a 6600K, which stabilized the system. The original 7700K failed; likely a bad memory controller. Cooler used in the first system was the Noctua NH-D14, while the cooler in the second test rig was an EVGA CLC280.

No, I didn't try adjusting the vccio or vccsa.
