You're doing the right thing by following the instructions carefully. The alignment of the triangles and your positioning suggest you're installing the CPU correctly. If you need further help, feel free to ask!

LGA connectors apply significant pressure to the processor for secure connection. When the processor is correctly seated, everything should work well. I remember feeling uneasy initially as well.

Ensure CPU is properly seated in its socket, checking for any bent pins. Close the lid and verify alignment before securing the arm.

It's unclear if it's worth it for 12100, but a contact frame is usually a solid choice for LGA1700 CPUs. Cheaper options under $10 are available at various stores.

It seems correct. You need to apply more pressure than you anticipate to move the lever and secure it beneath the hook on the lower right side. This is the standard behavior for Intel's LGA sockets.

Everything is functioning correctly. It just took a lot of effort to install, but I appreciate your assistance.

same as the 775, but usually needs less force after several inserts and re-sets. I’ve adapted to it over time. The only one that feels like it needs a lot of effort is the 1366—it really does compared to the other sockets I own (775 115x FM1/2 AM3+). You can sense the resistance when you pull the lever to release the CPU.
