I just assembled a gaming PC a few months back. The details are:
CPU: Intel Core i7 9700k (no overclock)
GPU: Zotac RTX 2080 amp extreme (no overclock)
RAM: Corsair RGB Pro 2666mhz 16gb (no overclock)
Storage: Samsung 860 EVO 500gb
MB: Asus Z390-E Strix
My concern is whether overclocking makes a difference. I aim for my PC to handle any game at high settings consistently for the next year or so. Will adding another RTX 2080 via NVLink and overclocking RAM and CPU really help, or will it only offer a small improvement? Additionally, I’m curious about the ideal CPU temperatures during intense gaming sessions.

It's not really worth it overclocking those already extremely powerful components. You could risk damaging them if something goes wrong. You could overclock the RAM though.

I thought with that configuration you wouldn't need to make any changes for several years. I'd rely on your system and only switch to OC when necessary, not just because it's convenient.
