I aim to run Dark Souls 3 at 60 fps. My GPU is a GTX 750 and I have 8 GB of RAM. Since the game is CPU-heavy, will overclocking the CPU help? I currently achieve 20-35 fps in most areas and only 40-60 occasionally.

There isn't much opportunity to change the i3-550 beyond a minor adjustment in the bclock. It won't significantly affect performance. For noticeable gains in FPS, consider replacing the graphics card with something faster that isn't overly limited by the dual-core processor. Options like a RX-460 or GTX 960 might help. Turn off or disable any background processes with Windows, use CCleaner to remove resource-heavy files and registry issues. This could free up some CPU cycles. If lag is mainly due to multiplayer on a busy server, the bottleneck might be the CPU. Upgrading to a slightly more powerful quad-core processor could be beneficial if your motherboard supports it.
