Hello! For this Black Friday upgrade, you're moving from Intel to AMD—switching from an i5 6400 to a Ryzen 7 2700X. Make sure to check compatibility beforehand and verify that Windows will run smoothly with your new SSD. Let me know if you need more details!

You selected the R7 2700X because it meets your specific needs. Your goal for the PC is to achieve optimal performance and reliability in your intended tasks.

The Amd Ryzen x-series isn't a good investment. You can purchase a 2700, tweak it slightly for overclocking, and suddenly you have a 2700x version.

Yes technically, but unless you purchased a retail key, you'll need to obtain a new license. To avoid complications, it's generally advisable to install Windows on the new device.

However, with a Microsoft account it should work without issues.

You usually don’t require a complete update, but a fresh setup improves performance since some registry and other issues can persist. It should function fairly smoothly overall, provided the chipset driver is updated for the new CPU—though you can skip that if you’re not too careful. I agree with others; clearing the SSD and reinstalling Windows is straightforward, especially during the install process. If you prefer to save time, getting the chipset driver updated will handle many common problems when swapping HDDs or SSDs between systems using Windows 10. However, this won’t resolve every possible issue, as there could be anywhere from zero to several potential problems with such a simple swap. Overall stability and benchmark results in games will give you an idea of how well it manages the change. With good internet and a solid SSD, a fresh Windows install can take about 20–30 minutes, while updating games tends to be the most time-consuming step.
