Intel Alder Lake with hybrid architecture presents challenges? Reality or ongoing hype?
Tasks often struggle with assigning to e cores they shouldn’t be. These cores seem to function correctly for most background software, yet some still cause problems. Even background programs that should run efficiently might slow things down or trigger stuttering. It appears the performance gap between e cores and P cores is significant, especially on Alder Lake where e cores run slower despite lower clock speeds. Their higher latency and poor IPC make them less effective for tasks needing more power, like secondary threads in games or antivirus scans. From what I’ve noticed, issues exist, but perhaps they’re resolved for all applications or depend on specific software. Whether Windows 10 or 11 can handle it varies by program.
