I wasn't expecting to explore Intel options seriously. At 265k, it should comfortably run 1440p at 240Hz in games like Black Ops 6 without issues.

It should work well for BO6, but it varies based on the GPU you use.

It would match with a 4080 super. However, a friend mentioned that the 265k and 4080 super might not perform well with your 240Hz 1440p display. They suggested it probably won’t reach the 240fps target seen on AMD CPUs. I’m not sure how accurate that is.

RTX 4080 Super pairs well with an i7 265K. It may not reach about 240fps on average, though CPUs like 7800X3D and 9800X3D could offer more noticeable gains. At 1440p resolution, the GPU would likely remain the bottleneck rather than the CPU.

Do you mostly rely on the computer for gaming or also need productivity tools running? I'm asking since gaming often benefits from the R7 7700(X), which tends to be more affordable and powerful there. For tasks that require multiple threads, the U7 265K usually shines, though it's less suited for gaming.

It's going to be a mix, really. But if the 265k can't support 240hz at 1440p... I'll leave it alone.
