Intel 13th and 14th generation processors experienced instability problems.
You purchased the 14900ks before the problems with the latest processors became public. The issues began after you bought a new 14th gen i9. You're still unable to return your CPU, so you're looking for alternatives. You adjusted the voltage and set a low wattage limit until more information arrives. Reports suggest overheating and high voltage were likely contributing factors.
Yeah, I'm in the same situation. My CPU is running fine now, just slowed down to extend its life. Intel seems to be working on a fix later this month, which might help, but I'm not optimistic. I'll keep going, though—I always find ways around it.
For gaming: 5.7 locked, 1.35v locked, E-cores disabled when HT is off (optional). iGPU should stay on. These settings are stable for K/KF and safe, though KS might improve them slightly. If you require E-cores, the approach will change.
That's what I was told too. Adjusting voltage control on my ASRock Z790 board worked, but the output stays near 1.5 or 1.4 volts. I'm aiming for around 1.25 or 1.3 just in case. Maybe I'll double-check my settings again.
Thanks! I'll continue investigating and adjust my calculations. So far everything seems fine, but I'm ready if needed. Haha!
