So 11700 would make sense as an upgrade, paired with a B560 board. Overclocking sounds appealing, but I need to verify the total cost. Yes, I’m also planning an IGPU for tasks like "quick sync." I’m building a second PC using mostly components I already own. The motherboard doesn’t support PCIe 4, so a resizable bar won’t work. Current specs: R5 3600 B350M 16GB 3070 RMI650. New secondary: R5 3600 B350M 8GB 1060 Bequiet 500W. Main: 11700 (?) B560/z590 (?) 16GB (hope my existing DDR4 RAM fits?). I’m hoping for compatibility.
BAR resizing isn<|pad|>, it has its flaws; it doesn’t always work perfectly. On Intel and NVIDIA boards, PCIe4 isn’t required for activation. This feature was introduced in several Z370-Z390 models later on.
Yeah, i mean im just checking out my options and Id like to try out intel chips too (my last was a first gen Pentium! lol) I could also: buy a 550 board for that pcie4 goodness and memory overclocking. And build another PC with my 2200g + 1060, old motherboard, 8GB RAM, all Id need to buy is a ~60$ case... But, idk if that makes sense as a "straming rig"? (of course Id need a capture card too) Next option is to wait for Alderlake + DDR5 goodness!
