Integrated Intel GPU with a capped performance limit
I transferred the thermal pads to improve cooling. Right now I’m using my integrated GPU while the CPU runs an i7 4790. The motherboard is quite old, and the PSU is only 600W. I have 16GB of DDR3 RAM, but my dedicated GPU memory stays at 576, which seems to be a limit. This problem also appeared when I had 8GB of RAM. Anyone know why this happens?
The specifications indicate a requirement of up to 2 GB of VRAM. Check your BIOS settings to find options for limiting memory usage. It seems you're likely using the most recent Intel graphics driver update.
I checked the previous BIOS session and didn't see anything about it being capped, but I'm going to review it again.
I used an i5 4570 and found the integrated graphics RAM setting changed from 4 to 256 MB in the BIOS. Honestly, 256 MB was more than sufficient for that GPU’s performance, as it lacks the full features of dedicated GPUs and ray-tracing wasn’t widely adopted yet.
The environment seems meant for reserved memory, yet the graphics card should handle extra resources as needed. Is the application functioning properly on that setup?
