Hello everyone, I'm setting up my first PC with a tight budget. TL;DR: Is the 12600K integrated graphics sufficient for 1080p at 60fps in games? I'm planning this build:
- i5-12600K (motherboard 449€)
- Gigabyte B660 Gaming X DDR4
- 2x Vengeance RGB PRO SL 8GO 3200C16 (non-RGB 8€)
- MSI Mag Coreliquid 240R V2 AIO (~120€)
- MSI Mag Forge 100M ~80€
- MSI MPG A750GF ~80€
- SSD: 500GB SATA
Later I’ll upgrade to a GPU like RTX3060 → RTX3070 or equivalent (4000/ RX6000/RX7000).
I’m a student, so I can only work in summer. My current setup is for gaming (mainly Minecraft), but I hope to expand to other titles like Valorant, Subnautica, Valheim, Fall Guys, Civ VI, or Ark. I want 60fps in 1080p, streaming on YouTube and Netflix, and some coding.
Quick thoughts:
- My PSU is fine but I don’t need a new one when I get the GPU.
- 12600K is powerful enough for the games listed, but I’ll save up for a better GPU later.
- AIO is not cheap, but I’m open to finding good options.
Any advice on whether the 12600K is too much or just right for my needs?
Consider using a real GPU for better performance. The Intel built-in graphics often underperform, making it hard to reach 1080P at 30FPS. The 12400F offers decent options with an air cooler, though not ideal. A dedicated GPU like the 2060 or a used 1060 would be more suitable if you can find one for around $120. If you choose the 12400F, expect an air cooler rather than a high-quality one. Investing €100 in an AIO without a dedicated GPU is not recommended for gaming. Opting for an i3 12100F with a dGPU would be a smarter choice than relying on integrated graphics in a 12600K.
Intel appears costly in France, making AMD a more attractive option. For gaming tasks like this, an AMD setup would perform significantly better than Intel’s integrated graphics for only the listed components. PCPartPicker lists these specs with prices at Amazon France.
People say AMD's iGPU might be sufficient, but they assumed Intel would be too. I'm considering the 12400F with an 1650 chip.
