Hey everyone, I just got a new RAT 8+ mouse to swap in for my old RAT 7. It’s plugged in and it functions perfectly, but whenever I switch profiles—whether updating DPI or lighting with the latest FLUX version—the mouse stops responding. It doesn’t work for left click, right click, or any other button. I’m using a USB 2.0 port because that’s what the recommendations suggested. I went through all the instructions on Madcatz’s FAQ page, but nothing seems to help. I’ve seen some discussions about firmware updates, but they’re hard to find. ***TousLesDrivers.com offers the software but not drivers or firmware.*** A site called This Website recommended it as a common fix, and others have reported success. I’m hoping I missed something.
I resolved the issue by connecting via a USB 2.0 port and installing both versions of the software. Initially, I attempted to use only the newer version but found it unable to be deleted, so I assumed both were present. I applied the settings using the updated software and avoided the older version entirely.
I also upgraded the Microsoft.net 3.5 Framework through Windows updates. This process should complete automatically, but if it doesn’t, I’ll share a link.
This mouse operates with the standard Microsoft HID driver and doesn’t need an additional download. For the newer model, here are the links:

The side scroll wheel is particularly handy for music and video editing, and the improved precision aim button stands out compared to my previous RAT 7. The matte finish provides a good grip without sticking or becoming dirty. Overall, the build quality and software feel significantly better than older models.
The DPI settings are profile-specific, allowing smooth switching between 1, 2, 3, or 4 per profile. This means you can fine-tune your settings for each task. If you’re new to this mouse, the thumb buttons are exceptional—they provide solid resistance and sit comfortably on the frame. The thumb rest is also well-designed.
Keep in mind that while this mouse looks high-end, its ergonomic design and performance make it a solid choice for gamers and editors alike.
