I don’t have the necessary hardware nearby. I’m using a 4G connection and have a 4GB drive, so I’m not relying on USB or optical drives. Would it be possible to complete the task without them? If not, would you consider visiting a store like Currys?

It seems you're wondering about adjusting the partitions on an internal drive. You mentioned it hasn't been tried before but might be possible.

I thought I had a 256GB drive, but it’s actually full. I’m using a USB 2.0 stick to transfer and reinstall it, which is how I’m being lazy. It should take a long time—maybe years!

You may use a 4GB flash drive if you choose either x86 or x64 architecture. Selecting both requires 8GB, but either option should fit within the 4GB limit. I haven't tested it myself, and the creation tool might push for 8GB, but it's worth a try.

Are you sure you want to invest time instead of buying a decent pendrive? You mentioned you need the Windows key for 2 quid, so it seems the price of the drive shouldn't exceed your software cost.
