Hey there! For my initial project I opted for the NZXT H440 case. The enclosure lacks optical ports so I can't use a real disk copy. Because it doesn’t support optical drives, I chose to install Windows 8.1 via USB. I understand I could buy a physical drive but I already have an unused 8GB USB 3.0 flash drive. I’m familiar with the process of placing the Windows ISO on the USB drive. Now to the challenges – my first issue is having a physical Windows 8.1 disk from a friend. The second issue is my only machine is an old laptop with an optical drive, which is almost certainly infected with malware. If I connect the USB and disk to that infected laptop and create an image of the CD, will the USB get infected too? Should I need a separate external drive if there’s a risk of infection? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The key code might be inside the box. Check there first.
